Treatment Groups at Wellness Treatment Center
 
Our IOP is a skill development program. Clients must be in the IOP in order to participate in the following treatment groups.
  • DBT
    Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a treatment program which is research proven to increase client confidence in safety and improve life functioning. Clients are taught techniques (skills) which help them understand their emotions, manage emotion dysregulation, and create balance in their relationships. Mindfulness is the core skill. It teaches clients how to focus the attention of their mind; to become more objective when observing themselves and others; and to make choices which will help them create a life worth living. Additional skill sets include: interpersonal effectiveness skills, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
     
  • Behavioral Activation
    Behavioral Activation (BA) is a treatment to help people understand the factors that exist in their lives that might be causing their problems and to make specific behavioral changes based on this information. Life events such as loss, trauma, transition, and relationship distress, among other things, naturally result in a person experiencing a less rewarding life and experiencing difficult feelings. Unfortunately, the behaviors used to cope with such feelings, such as withdrawal, avoidance and rumination, actually end up worsening the negative feelings, and the coping strategies often create their own host of problems. A major goal of BA is to help people step out of this “depression loop” where feelings of depression spur the use of behaviors that actually feelings of depression.
     
  • Treatment planning
    Treatment planning involves setting weekly goals by identifying their priorities, specific action steps, and potential obstacles. This group helps each individual set their intentions and schedule for the week.
     
  • Stress management
    This interactive group gives clients the opportunity to learn constructive, positive methods to cope with stress. Self-assessment and awareness, deep breathing meditation, visualization, aromatherapy, and yoga are just a few of the activities the clients experience and are encouraged to practice at home.
     
  • Wellness
    The wellness group offers instruction in healthy lifestyle changes including the core elements of the program: nutrition, exercise, sunlight, meaningful activity, social involvement, and sleep. The wellness group is a combination of information sharing and support that enables group members to learn healthy coping mechanisms and how to incorporate them into their life. This wellness philosophy is integrated into all aspects of the IOP treatment program.
     
  • Stabilization Group
    By utilizing group discussion and support the stabilization group addresses a variety of personal issues including self esteem and self worth, while reaffirming commitment to treatment and personal safety, growth and personal safety. Treatment goals and progress are reviewed each week by utilizing objective self evaluation questionnaires. The group offers an opportunity to actively incorporate new healthy coping behaviors.
     
  • Health and fitness
    This group includes a variety of fitness activities with personal trainers. The group is offered at our facility as well as utilizing a local fitness center that is adjacent to our offices. By working with personal trainers, individuals are instructed in proper exercise techniques to maximize benefit to improve mood and decrease anxiety. The group support is very beneficial for those who are new to exercise or have been away from exercise for a period of time.
     
  • Additions Group
    The addictions and recovery portion of this program focuses on personal resilience and accountability. Each meeting includes addictions education with information about patterns of substance use, risk factors for maladaptive behaviors and very clear recovery pathways. Each session also explores individual stressors, psychological issues that influence decision making and coping skills to more fully understand emotional triggers. Each participant will have opportunities to examine their self-regulation challenges and personal strengths in a positive and affirming atmosphere.
